Preview the new book

We're so excited about the new website, we feel like sharing with you.

Below you will find instructions for Three Shields, a project from our newest book, Hands-on America Volume III.  These shields were used by the Plains Indians [a unit included in the book] and are one of the identifying symbols of this culture. To the Plains people these shields possessed supernatural powers and were protectors in combat.

You'll find many wonderful well researched and student-tested activities such as this in the new book. Buy one now!

Something exciting

Those of you who visited our booth at the NAEA conference will know that we have a big summer ahead with the release of the newest addition to the Hands-on series, Hands-On America Volume III: Art activities about Lewis and Clark, Pioneers, and Plains Indians.
It was great to connect with the art education community and share these wonderful books with you.

This book features the background of the remarkable Lewis and Clark Corps of Discovery expedition with maps, information on the expedition, and six related projects. The Westward movement section has a map of the important trails, ten activities, and information about the Pioneers. The Plains Indians section includes twenty activities founded on material artifacts in private and museum collections. It also includes wonderful maps about the High Plains and Prairie tribes. The map pictured above is one of six included in the new book.

Yvonne Merrill has done an amazing job with this book and she even admitted it just might be her favorite in the series. This title is be available for purchase through our website. . Stay tuned for a sneak peak into some of the projects from the newest book next week.

We hope to share with you the enthusiasm we have for the cultures and craftsmanship that these books represent. Feel free to contact us if you are looking for more information, or visit our website.
